You will need to do your homework by reading the RICS APC guidance and start writing for each competency. Before our meetings, you will need to send through your draft for review and comments.

We’ll have 3 sessions to cover all the topics, including:

The first review will be for individual competency and we will discuss in each session. I’ll be explaining the rationale and tips on how to improve your writing to match RICS standards. The second review will be for the whole submission where you will be given time to read again your submission, review and revise and we’ll look at it again together for the final touch.

For these competencies, Blackbooks are recommended to fill in the knowledge gap.

Similar to Mandatory competencies, you will need to do your homework by reading the RICS APC guidance, external resouces (blackbooks for eg.) and start writing for each competency.

Before our meetings, you will need to send through your draft for review and comments.

We’ll have 4 sessions to cover all the topics, including:

Upon completing your Competencies Submission, we’ll have around 3 sessions on your Case Study:

This part will likely take most of your preparation time. So do allow sufficient time for your case study.

The candidate needs to clock in 48 hours of CPD (Continued Professional Development).

Recommended sources are:

  1. RICS offer free CPD Support Pack for RICS Members and Candidates. So make sure you make the best out of this. There are some courses on APC that you can review your knowledge and obtain Formal CPD hours for free.

  1. RICS Professionalism Module (including test) is included in the free CDP Support Pack and mandatory for all candidates and members. Please log into your account and complete this module. It will benefit you as well when writing for Ethics, Rules of Conduct and professionalism Competency.

  2. BLACKBOOKS:

Blackbooks are also free resources offered by RICS to fill in knowledge gap for candidates. You can use them as informal CDPs.
